SimmonsUniversity prides itself on a diverse, inclusive student body and welcomes applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. To better prepare students who have limited quantitative experience or who have been out of the classroom for a number of years, we offer an introductory Pre-MBA course that will help prepare students to meet the quantitative requirements of the MBA@Simmons curriculum.
Applicants who lack clearly demonstrated quantitative skills, but who otherwise meet the MBA@Simmons admissions standards, may be admitted to the MBA program upon successfully passing the Pre-MBA course. However, the course is open to all incoming students who want to refresh their quantitative business skills.
The Pre-MBA course is offered through the same online platform as all other MBA@Simmons courses. Combining live online classes and self-paced coursework, this course consists of lectures, videos, exercises, problem sets, analysis, and group discussions. It covers case study approach, a variety of quantitative skills, and basic business writing.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Apply basic business math skills
Use equations and formulas to analyze business problems
Follow an analytical process in problem-solving
Identify the components of effective written memos, reports, and case analysis
Use visuals effectively in documents
Prepare for a case study discussion
Identify and apply relevant data to diagnose and assess a business situation
Make decisions and propose recommendations
