About the Program

What is MBA@Simmons?

MBA@Simmons is the online Master of Business Administration program from Simmons School of Business. This program prepares students for management roles in today’s fast-changing, competitive business landscape, with particular emphasis on gender dynamics in the workplace. The curriculum is designed to ensure students’ success as they work to define their own leadership style and cultivate practical skills through rigorous experiential learning.

How is MBA@Simmons different from other online programs?

MBA@Simmons students attend live classes each week to engage in in-depth discussions with faculty and classmates. Coursework is delivered through a variety of multimedia formats, offering an interactive and engaging online learning experience. Students also attend an in-person immersion experience on campus in Boston, Massachusetts, and have the option to attend immersions in other cities around the world, where they can build upon the skills and knowledge gained throughout the program in person with faculty and peers.

Is Simmons School of Business accredited?

Simmons School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a distinction awarded to only about 5 percent of institutions worldwide granting business degrees.

How many credits are required to complete the MBA@Simmons program?

Students must complete a total of 48 credits (42 required course credits, 4 elective credits, and 2 immersion credits) to earn their MBA online from Simmons University.

Is the online program available full time and part time?

MBA@Simmons is a part-time program that offers students flexibility. Most students take two courses (6 credits) per term, but students may choose to take one course (3 credits) per term.

How long does the program take to complete?

The program can be completed in as few as 24 months.

Can I work full time while enrolled in the program?

Yes. The MBA@Simmons curriculum is designed for working professionals. Our innovative online format enables students to better manage their personal and professional commitments while completing their coursework.

Will I be required to visit campus?

Yes. Students are required to attend one in-person immersion on campus in Boston, Massachusetts, and will also have the opportunity to attend immersions in other cities around the world. Immersions are designed to build upon the curriculum and allow students and faculty to meet in person.

What is the student-to-faculty ratio?

Classes generally consist of approximately 15 students. This ensures each student can receive personalized attention from professors and develop close, personal connections with classmates.

Are there concentrations available?

MBA@Simmons does not offer concentrations at this time.

What type of support does Simmons provide for its students?

At Simmons, we are committed to the success of our students on an individual level. It is a principle that guides everything we do. From the moment you request information about the program to the day you earn your diploma and beyond, Simmons offers unmatched support services to assist you every step of the way. We offer comprehensive admission, enrollment, and academic support that help ensure each student’s success.

As a student in our online program, you will work one-on-one with a dedicated Admissions Counselor throughout the admissions process to answer any questions you may have about the program.

Once you are admitted, you will work directly with our student support team. Our student support specialists will help you acclimate to the virtual campus, provide technical support, and assist with registration each term. You will also be assigned an academic advisor who will help ensure you are meeting your academic goals.

Online Learning

What is the online learning experience like?

MBA@Simmons uses a blend of live, online classes and self-paced content, as well as in-person immersions to ensure a high-quality learning experience and full mastery of business principles. Our unique approach to online learning brings students across the country together to collaborate and share their unique professional perspectives.

What are live class sessions like?

Through our innovative online learning platform, you are able to attend Simmons’ MBA classes from any place with an Internet connection. As a student, you will participate in weekly, live classes, hosted face-to-face in our online classroom. Classes are developed and taught by the same expert faculty who teach on campus. The live format encourages collaboration and connections with classmates and faculty, allowing students to forge real and lasting relationships.

How is the coursework delivered?

Course content is developed by Simmons faculty, many of whom are business leaders. Our content is designed from the ground up in order to provide a rich online learning experience. As a student, you’ll engage with documentary-style videos, case studies, readings, and written and video assignments that can be accessed at any time, giving you the ability to work at your own pace.

Admissions

Are standardized test scores required to apply?

No. Applicants may submit GRE and/or GMAT scores if they choose, but these scores are not required for admission to the program.

Do I need to hold a particular undergraduate degree to be eligible for the program?

No. While applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, the type of degree earned does not affect your eligibility for the program.

I'm not a U.S. resident. Can I apply?

No. The MBA@Simmons program is only open to U.S. residents who currently reside in the United States.

Do I need to complete an interview?

An interview is not required; however, the admissions committee may request an evaluative interview upon review of your completed application. This interview is conducted through our online learning platform.
